Bar feeder collet external thread

A Bar Feeder Collet with External Thread (Series 101) is a specialized tension-style collet used in automatic bar-loading systems, most commonly found in Swiss-type machining and high-speed CNC turning.

While the 102 series typically features an internal (female) thread, the 101 series is characterized by its external (male) thread, which allows it to screw into the rotating tip of a bar feeder pusher.

Purpose

The bar feeder collet (or "finger chuck") performs three vital tasks.

Grip and Push
It holds the rear of the raw bar stock to push it through the lathe spindle.

Retraction
Because it is threaded securely to the pusher, it can pull the bar back into the guide bush if the machining cycle requires it.

Remnant Disposal
It maintains a grip on the short "end-piece" (remnant) so the bar feeder can retract it out of the spindle area and drop it into a scrap bin.
